1144.0. "Supercop" by POLAR::TYSICK (Fuzzy Bunnies Guide to You Know What?) Tue Jul 30 1996 14:31

    This is to discuss Jackie Chan's new flick called "Supercop" even
    though it really isn't new at all.

    	It was actually made in 1992 at a cost of $11 million and has
    already grossed $150 million. It will definitly add to that figure
    once released in North America. BTW it will be dubbed of course!

    	I wish I could say I know what it's all about but I've only got a
    slight clue. He plays a cop (who later teams up with a female partner)
    who battles against some kind of terrorist army. Sure it's not going to
    be a spectacular story, but if you want action, Chan is the Man!

    	He was surprised to find out the other day that Tom Cruise doesn't
    perform his own stunts, in the movie Mission Impossible. In case any of
    you don't know, Chan does all his own stunts and has broken almost every
    bone doing them. Even for falls, Jackie would rather fall into tarpaulins
    piled on top of apple crates rather than an air-bag. Besides, it cheaper
    he says!

    Anyone up for this one?

1144.1WON'T MISS THIS ONE EITHER!POWDML::GROEZINGERWed Jul 31 1996 16:017
    I'm up for this one too! I thoroughly enjoyed Rumble in the Bronx.
    Jackie, at any age, is great to watch.

    He's one that just keeps getting better. Great martial arts with
    a comedic twist. Lots of fun!

     Does he do his own acting too?

1144.3dubbed, eh?LUDWIG::GARRITYFri Aug 02 1996 17:474
    If you want to call it that!!

      I don't know...watching a dubbed movie? I would feel like I was
    watching one of those old Godzilla movies or something.
1144.4Dubbing is not always badRICKS::BERMANTue Aug 06 1996 18:394
    The dubbing adds to the movie. The voices they choose are really
    funny.

1144.5So-so so-ho!POLAR::TYSICKPrying Open my Third EyeTue Apr 29 1997 15:4711
    I checked out this one on the weekend as well and was a little torn.
    It had a better story (sort of) than "Rumble" but not as good action
    scenes. It was definitly funny through out the whole flick and not
    just the first 15 minutes. Liked it...but can't really recommend it
    unless you're a fan.
