    Last weekend I rented two *ckers movies -- Clockers, and Hackers.
    
    Clockers has its own note but Hackers doesn't so...
    
    Given that Hackers was patently stupid and preposterous, it wasn't too
    bad. The hackers are all super-trendy, cool-fashion skateboarding
    genius-types, who seem to spend most of their life partying, and not
    much time studying say, UNIX internals. This is explained by the fact
    that they are geniuses, see. They don't have to study, they just know
    the stuff. 
    
    I don't like to see smart kids portrayed as effortless, it implies that
    smarts is just something you're born with and if you weren't, that
    working hard is a non-cool substitute. But as this is primarily a
    fashion show, their brilliance is a "conceit". So be it.
    
    Of exceptional note is the one hacker babe, the astonishing Angelina
    Jolie. Who looks like maybe she has spent like five minutes in front of
    a computer in her entire life, and the rest in front of the mirror
    practicing her mega-pout, or by the phone, waiting for the next
    modelling assignment to ring up. 
    
    Anyway, worth seeing for a coupla bucks, for all the pretty colors,
    nice clothes, and imaginative computer interfaces. Also with Fisher
    Stevens and a  Penn Jillette in a bit part.

    Pretty much everything .0 said is how it is, a good rental one night if
    your down with the flu/cold and wanna sit for 1 hour and a half and
    just watch and not think!

    	The most fascinating part about this movie was that all the
    	kids were hacking on Mac Powerbooks.  They weren't even using
    	real PC's.  8^)
