1060.0. "Anne Frank Remembered" by ALFA1::MASON (The law of KARMA hasn't been repealed) Mon Apr 08 1996 16:48
This weekend I went to see the Oscar winning documentary called "Anne
Frank Remembered." It's playing in the Boston area at the Kendall Sq
and West Newton theatres.
I highly recommend it. There are interviews with people who knew her,
and saw her in the camps before she died (sadly, only 2 months before
liberation), as well as with Miep Gies, who helped hide the Frank
family for 2+ years.
This is the sort of documentary that could have resorted to
sentimentality. It doesn't. The director sought to find out who Anne
Frank was as a person, and break down the icon we have built in the 50
years since her death.
Well worth seeing.

| This movie was also shown on the Disney Channel in the US last summer.
I saw it at that time and yes it was very good.

| I agree with your sentiments as well. Was fascinating and sad but
without being maudlin. I was impressed by how articulate and clear-eyed
her best friend and a few others were while relating certain very
traumatic events.
Anne (Anna) Frank wanted to be famous and so did that little 7-year-old
airplane pilot. They both died needlessly because of misguided adults
and became famous for the wrong reasons.
