I posted a response to my own base note 983.20, in which I mention the
sound system, which is the best I've heard in a movie theater yet. The seating
is very comfortable and well laid-out, not perfect, but as good as I've
any.

The seats have cupholders, everything smells clean and new. Very ample
(and free) parking. arcade/game room, wide variety of refreshments.

I was there watching Casino and thought the place was very nice! The
chairs are really comfy. 8)
soda is a rediculous price,though!

| I wouldn't call all of it *luxury*, though. The access road is off
(congested) Mountain Street and is a lonely little narrow road; all
I could think of as we drove to the Jumanji matinee was what a
horrorshow the traffic could become at night (once everyone starts
going there routinely).
We arrived a little too late for the first show and had an hour to kill
before the next one, so we hit the snack bar for <other-than-popcorn>.
The pickings looked OK (hot dogs, nachos)... BUT... there were only two
cheese machines for the nachos and they were BOTH BROKEN (hey! this
place just opened!), and they had NO HOT DOG ROLLS. So... I got
popcorn for us, and it turned out to be the WORLD'S SALTIEST POPCORN!
(And I'm a saltaholic who did not add any at the counter.)
The seats are comfy but, instead of sliding back into a stable reclined
position, the backs are "springy". Sounds great until some kid in your
row decides it's fun to bounce theirs, over and over and over and
over....
I saw the POSTERS for the Godiva-whatever but never figured out where
it was. Saw the arcade, but that "attraction" is not a Good Thing in
my book (YMMV).
Sound system is the latest Dolby, I guess, and it *was* good, but it's
not state-of-the-art, is it? Isn't "THX" (or whatever) the *real*
cutting-edge? This theater does not have that (I'm looking forward to
experiencing that at Disney World this February; *all* their theaters
have it).

It's about the same as most of the newly constructed theaters in this
area, with the additional gloss sustained patronage will eventually
remove.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like we need to rush down there and
check it out. I find the Leominster and Tyngsboro theaters comfy enough
and they are both a lot closer. My girlfriend and I will probably check
it out some Tuesday night (mom's night out).

| I went and seen Casino and I was very impressed with the cinema. When
you can sit for 3 hours and walk out of there with feeling in your butt
then you know the seats are well designed.
As Siskel and Ebert say..I give it two thumbs up!!

| I went yesterday to see Goldeneye.
The seats are good, everythings nice 'n clean (because the place is
new, of course), but on the negative side....
1)the coffee cups slip thru the drink holders
2)the "cafe" consists of a half dozen seats in the middle of the huge
open lobby
3)the "French pastries" they advertise were on this particular Sunday
afternoon, 2 big chocolate chip cookies and two apple turnovers...
they looked pretty silly sitting there in that big brightly-lit
glass case.
4)the film itself had an annoying bright green "stripe" running down the
screen for most of the film...not the quality I'd expect to see
in either a new film or a new theater.
5)the screens didn't strike me as being any bigger than anywhere else
In my opinion, it's just a big, new theater complex...just like any other.

| Hey yourself .13 !!
If they are going to advertise these "luxuries" in their full
page newspaper ads.. "Cafe Godiva" it says splashed across the
page .. making out like they are "better" than other theaters
because they have these amenities, then I would expect them to
have them!
The basenoter wanted opinions ... mine is as valid as any other!

| Sue,
No wonder I couldn't find "Cafe Godiva"--silly me, *I* thought I was in
a (micro) food court sitting area.
They wasted enough space with the wall baffles in front of each
auditorium entrance to prevent a real (enclosed) cafe, I guess.
("Throw around a few chairs and tiny pedestal tables and call it a
cafe! Yeah, that's the ticket! Call it Godiva and they'll drive here
just to see it!")

So if they get about $8.50 for a 2oz box of M&Ms, what do they get for
Godiva chocolates?
