993.0. "Canadian Bacon" by BUSY::SLABOUNTY (Never Say Never Again, Again) Tue Jan 02 1996 09:57
John Candy, Rhea Perlman, Alan Alda, Kevin Pollack, Dan Aykroyd,
Steven Wright, and probably a few others.
The president's popularity seems to be down, due in part to no
current world conflicts, so his advisors cook up a scheme to
"create" a Cold War with our northern neighbor, Canada, and get
the country to back the president so they can re-elect him at
the next election.
However, the only ones who seem to want to do anything about
"those nasty Canadians" are John, Rhea and [?], former employ-
ees of an arms manufacturer which was forced to close its doors
due to no current world conflicts.
Fairly amusing for the most part. This must've been 1 of John's
last movies, since it's dated 1995.

As a French Canadian I though this movie was hilarious.
I don't think everybody would like it because of some lack of
credibility but you must keep in mind that it is a comedy.
Might offend some Canadian but I wouldn't know.
I laughed my heart out on the Pea soup lovers joke.
I heard that it was John Candy last film.
Spoiler Warning.
Question: Wasn't the mad general who wanted to nuke Canada the same mad
general who wanted to nuke Russia in "By dawn early lights" ?
As for the beer joke I do believe that our beer is better. 8-)
Please leave the arguments for that last comments in the beer
conference.
8-) ...Marc
