This movie was at the Toronto Film Festival last year and had very good
reviews but I never had a chance to see it. I was very impressed -
reminded me of a Quintin Tarrantino film but I could find nothing in
the credits to indicate that he had any involvement. The movie stars
Gil Bellows (Miami Rhapsody, Shawshank Redemption) and Rory Cochrane
(Dazed and Confused) and a talented younger actress whose name I can't
remember now - I think this was her first film. The action takes place
around Austin, Texas and involves Bellow's character getting caught up
in circumstances beyond his control. He starts off as a small town
crook, going from one convenience store robbery to the next to get the
grocery money for his "woman" - they seem blissfully happy in their
trailer park existance. The trouble is, a real bad apple shows up
(Cochrane) and soon the small town robber is involved in much more than
he ever expected. Telling too much more would give away the rest of
the movie - if violence and bad language offends, you probably wouldn't
like it. However, if you don't mind that type of film (similar to what
you would see in True Romance or Reservoir Dogs) and can appreciate
some really fine dialogue, give it a go. I'm going to go check out the
soundtrack - it should include some really cool tunes. Any movie that
includes the "Meat Puppets" and "Johnny Cash" on the same soundtrack is
worth giving a listen to!

I just saw this on video and liked it too.
It borrows a lot of its style from Tarrantino and the Coen Brothers
(Raising Arizonia), and the plot isn't for brain surgeons, but the
characters are interesting and the violence is just enough.
Peter Fonda is a riot as the hippy father with the vibrating voice box.
The soundtrack is top-notch - and I might buy it even though I have
most of the stuff on it already - artist include: Mazzy Star, Jesus
and Mary Chain, Rev. Horton Heat, Butthole Surfers, Johnny Cash, etc.
Our Blockbuster had only one copy for a long time - but it was always
out - so they finally got three copies. Word of mouth on this is good,
so get it while you can.
