853.0. "Fluke" by PARVAX::BENNETT (Butterfly) Tue Jun 13 1995 16:06
My Husband and 5 year old daughter went to see "Fluke" over the
weekend. With it being a Disney movie, we were under the impression
that it was like a "Homeward Bound" type of movie. We were wrong.
First let me start off by saying that the movie was fantastic! It did
manage to live up to Disney standards. The problem with the movie was
the commercials that lead us to believe what the movie would be about.
My daughter wanted more than anything to see this movie. She is an
animal lover and very sensitive over what happens to them.
Okay, on with the story.
The movie opens with a car crash and shows a man getting killed in the
crash. He then comes back to life as a dog, Fluke. It shows Fluke as
a puppy and getting caught by the dogcatcher and escaping. Without
giving the whole story away, Fluke's mission is to get back with his
family (his wife and kid from his previous life). It shows some of his
friends dying, getting hurt, etc.
The movie is a real tear jerker. I don't recommend it for children
under 7, but I do recommend it if you are an animal lover.

| I guess this is an adaptation of the James Herbert book? Has it been
set in America for the film (probably!).

| Fluke is an "Adult" book. I can't see there can be much left of it but
the basic framework once it had been Disneyfied.
Will we see a disney version of the Magic cottage? Or, the Rats
perhaps?

Okay, but do any animals get hurt? Kids (and some adults such as my
wife) often have more trouble with that than with humans getting hurt.
