| I know what you mean. I bought "Speed" just so I can look at him
whenever I want to. I have been wanting to see his new movie
but I don't think it has come to my area yet and can't wait
for his next one. I think it will be his first romantic lead - he
did a romantic part in Dangerous Liasons a few years back. I
just love his smile, he is soooooo gorgeous.

| 1.
In Dangerous Liasons, he was just a secondary actor...BUT in
A Walk in the Clouds he's the lead and thats where SPEED changed
it all...finally..I was getting sick of waiting for him to be
really recognized....but you know you need the right vehicle to
get you to the top..and that was it...
2. I was going to ask for someone to do a filmography but didn't
and we got a terrific list anyhow!!! thanks alot for The List !!!!

Neither for me. Plus, I honestly think he's a lousy actor.
His performance in "Speed" was one of the worst I've seen in
quite a while.

either.
So the old saying holds true ...
" ... it takes more than jugs to appreciate Keanu Reeves".

even worse when he's not "acting". What a winner.

| I thought Keanu Reeves was terrible in Much Ado About Nothing. I felt
that he was totally mis-cast. He's a rather poor actor -- looks don't
add anything to my appreciation.

Judging by the majority of replies in here, I'd say he was the
perfect actor to be cast in "Much Ado About Nothing".

I am Jugg-less and I Like Keanu.
I liked his supporting role in "Parenthood" as "that Todd". I think
he did a good job. Haven't seen other movies he's been in besides
"Bill & Ted" which made me smirk a lot :-)
I thought "Speed" was a kinda awful movie.
Steve
p.s. Sorry about the diff in opinion Di

But no, Stevie!
I liked him in "Parenthood" too. And he was perfect for "Bill
and Ted's...". Simply awful in anything I've seen him in since,
though. He's really starting to take himself seriously, too.
Kinda comical. ;>

| I really like Keanu Reeves. He is a refreshing change from the big
overstuffed muscle men and sure footed protagonists that seem to have
been dominating the movies. I think he is a GREAT actor, and I have
loved all of his movies including "Bill and Ted" and "Speed."
And no, I don't have jugs either.

I haven't seen ANY *good* young actors in the past 5 years with the
exception of Bradd Pitt.

843.21 | from People | POBOX::SEIBERTR | | Thu Jun 01 1995 09:15 | 36 |
| KR is on the cover of People magazine this week. I read the article.
For such a young man who is just coming into his own, they sure
had a lot to write about!
Some highlights:
His name is Hawiain (sp?) meaning "cool breeze over a mountain."
His father is from Hawaii and his mother is from....I think Boston.
His father has been in jail for possession of cocaine since KR was
about 13, he father is still in jail. KR doesn't like talking about
him. His mother has been with a lot of different men since then
and he got pulled out of school all the time. He was always a
quiet kid but he got through school OK. HIs mother makes costumns
for stars so he has been around many celebrities as he was growing
up. He has two sisters, one trains and raises horses and I dont'
remember what the other one does.
There has been some speculation on if KR is a homosexual. This is not
true, however his first movie (or one of his very early movies) he
played a homosexual and apparantly there is a rather explict scene
of kissing and touching in it. The movie has turned into a cult
film that is very popular in the gay communities. The name of the film
is "Wolf____" something. KR likes women, but he doesn't date much--
he said something like "why bother unless its the real thing?" and he
doesn't care for going to the HOllywood parties.
His best friend was River PHoenix and he is still having a hard time
dealing with death.
They had a lot more information on him, mostly talking about his
different films and how he got the parts and where he is going etc.
It was a pretty good and complete article. I wasn't real happy
with the pictures. It looks like they went out of the way to make
him look gross and dirty.

| I kinda liked his performance in Speed: someone who just knuckles down
and gets the job done. (I don't know if it was intentional, but it
worked for me.) So far, though, his best work has been playing spacey
adolescents, where he seems to have a natural aptitude.
I saw a preview for A Walk in the Clouds, and he didn't do anything
that made me wince. So it has possibilities.

843.26 | Not exactly a fan | SNOFS1::FAKES | So, how d'ya land this thing anyhow? | Fri Jun 23 1995 02:25 | 11 |
| Of course it's all a matter of taste, but I think Bill & Ted's was
about the best of KR's roles. He definitely comes across (to me) as
being thick as two planks, which was perfect for the aforementioned B &
T movies. In other roles, well I guess He's OK, but I wouldn't go out
of my way to see a movie on the basis of his prticipation.
In the area of promising young(ish) male actors, I think Johnny Depp is
amongst the most interresting around right now. He's not afraid to get
involved in very risky and different roles, and seems to do pretty well
every time.
