From what it looks like, I don't think this is the same "Casper"
from the cartoons.
But it is a ghost movie.

| I have no doubt from the trailer that it's the same Casper. Same round
head, very similar voice, winsome and "good", opposite 3 evil ghosts out
to inconvenience everybody.
Bill Pullman and [the young teen who plays "Wednesday" Addams] star.
I'll probably take my daughter & one of her friends next weekend
(missed the sneak yesterday).

Oops, either I didn't see enough of the advertisement or I've
forgotten some of my cartoon knowledge due to my brain being
rotted out by heavy metal music.

| I saw it last night-- I thought it was a really good film---cute and
entertaining....
The story was about how this real greedy bi*ch inherited a house
from her deceased father. In this house, They believed that a
treasure was hidden there, but when they came to claim it-- they were
scared away by the 3 scary ghosts. After numerous failed attempts she
sees a commercial for a ghost psyc.(Bill Pulham) who claims to help free the soul of
ghosts so they can "cross over" to the other side.
But the story revolves around Casper, the friendless ghost, who was very sad
and wanted a friend, but everyone he tried to be friends with was
scared of him. Casper living as the caretaker of his 3 uncles (aka
stretch, stinky, and fatso) was in need of some company. He befriends
the daughter of the Doctor and they learn about each and themselves.
But to make a long story short-- The story goes on with casper and the
girl making a friendship, the father(doctor) bonding with the 3 uncles
and the bad guys going thru hell and back again.
I definately recommend this film. It had a certin happy feeling about
it. I am not sure the kids get the full effect of the film, but the
special effects are incredible and that alone they seemed to love.
P.S Also check out the cameos in this movie-- some pretty good ones.

| We saw it last Friday, and liked it. Mind you, I slightly disagree with
the last noter. I think this is mostly a kids film, it is a very
cute film, no gore, no real scary parts, and is a very feel good movie.
I would have enjoyed it even without taking my 5-year old son, but I
kept seeing the special effects, and he "saw" Casper.
Take the kids.

| FWIW, this film knocked last weeks top grosser out of first place
by taking in $20 1/2 Million.
