Some critics have seen a preview of this film.
Appears that it will be one hell of a film for the summer.
Appears induce a lot of fidgeting and screaming from those in
their seat.
All comments were positve and it's only the rough cut.
Another "Alien" is on the way.

| Saw this one over the weekend. As a big H.R. Geiger fan, and a fan of
the Alien movies ( 'cept 3 :-) ) I had reasonably high hopes for this.
Boy, was I disappointed!
The alien was visually striking in appearance and the effects were
good, and if it weren't for the bad acting, bad plot, and bad script
they might've had a movie here. Forrest Whittaker, who I usually like,
was horrible playing an 'empath' who's revelations bordered on the
absurd - For example, The scene: Blood all over a room, various pieces of
alien flesh lying around, a somewhat fresh corpse in the corner. The
relevation: "She was here. She was angry." Clever, clever!
Ben Kingsley, whom I also usually like was equally bad. They did
have the excuse of having an unsalvageable script ( it must be tough
when your character is given lines who's only purpose is to advance a
plot with no internal logic ).
The fact that I was expecting a really good movie obviously had
some effect on my reaction, but I think this is a definite renter only.

| Siskel gave it thumbs up and Ebert gave it thumbs down. Ebert
said all it was about an alien who keeps taking her bra off.
Siskel said that's why he goes to the movies.

well..sounds like this ain't in the same league as "Aliens" at all,
contrary to the advertising and hype.
may give it a shot at the discounted matinee price this weekend.

| Saw this last night with two others. We all felt pretty much as the
comments in .2; could have been a h*ll of a movie. Seemed too close
to the Alien films, right from the title graphics, but certainly
not in the same league as the Alien films 1&2.
I have to agree with Ebert regarding the bra removal comment once the
creature acheived maturity. Yeah, okay Natasha H is visually
striking, but enough already, let's move on with the story.
A renter at best.

It was ok. Some of the lines were real bad.
About as good as Alien III.

As -.1 said, wrong adjective but I would also put it on Alien 3's
level...

| I saw this at the $1.50 theatre in Nashua this weekend and feel like
I was robbed. Now I'm thinking at that price I can afford to go back
and see it again for the sole purpose of writing down some of the
absolutely absurd scenes and dialogue. How could they possibly have
come up with that total drivel? I'm almost embarassed to say that
I sat through the whole thing...imagine what the people involved with
the making of it must have felt! I put this one in a category with
LifeForce which at least had better acting. I'm willing to bet that
the story behind the production of Species would be infinitely more
interesting than the movie turned out to be.
