Martin Kove, Brion James. Called a "virtual reality" movie, it's actually an "electrostatic- ally-induced manufactured reality" movie in that what you see looks very real, even though it isn't. The movie is divided into 3 parts, each featuring a different set of characters ... the main characters being patients of Kove, who appears to be some kind of a psychiatrist/psychologist. 1) A woman is terrified of leaving her house, so she goes to the "doctor" to be cured of this problem. 2) A tenant is constantly late with his rent, and finds out what could happen if he were to take in a roommate. 3) A guy sees a friend choke and die on an olive, and finds out what it's like to live in constant fear of death. Slow in spots, but good overall. The 1st segment is the best, IMO.

> Slow in spots, but good overall. The 1st segment is the best, > IMO. The first segment is a spoiler for the other two. Once the trick is known, the other two segments are meaningless in the context of the alleged movie. It was a student project film, as I recall. I expect what happened was that the first segment got a good grade, so two new "episodes" were added to fill out a feature-length movie. Weren't they all credited separately? They should have just cut the first segment back to 22 minutes and sold it to TV for "Tales from the Dark Side" or something. - tom] |
