759.0. "RIP Donald Pleasence" by ASDG::MCNAMARA (strange visitor......) Fri Feb 03 1995 15:13

Donald Pleasence, who breathed life into a series of odd and sinister characters
on stage and screen, died Thursday, Feb. 2nd. He was 75.

R.I.P., Mr. Pleasence...the stage and screen worlds will miss you, as will
you fans.

What's your defining screen memory of donals? Please feel free to post them here.

It is difficult to watch a channel liek AMC without seeing him in a flick,
however most people my age will best remember him as the psychiatrist in
"Halloween".....(I'm 36).

RIP, Donals Pleasence.

I mostly recall him as Colin the Forger, going blind, who was taken under
James Garner's wing in "The Great Escape".

I remember him also as Mr. President in "Escape from New York". :)

He was the co-narrator of "Terror in the Aisles", the "movie"
which featured snippets of a slew of horror movies.

"Barchester Chronicles" on the BBC and PBS, in which he
played the distinctly non-villainous central character.

"Warrior of the Lost World" in which he played the head villian in a
Mad Max type of world... he dies at the end only to survive when we
find out that only his clone died...

The only reason I know of this film is because it was on MST3K...

The first thing I remember seeing him in was "Fantastic Voyage" as the
    saboteur...

My favorite role was Dr. Loomis from the Halloween movies...

My two favourites with Pleasence are

dario Argento's 'Creepers' in wich he portraits a professor in a
wheelchair with a monkey as a helper

    and

    'Cul de Sac' by Polanski.

    Two very different performances.
