Geena Davis and Michael Keaton in an adult romantic comedy. They play political campaign speech writers from opposing sides. The story was apparently inspired by the Mary Matlin/Jim Carvel (sp?) romance. I have great respect for both actors, but the script doesn't do them justice. At points I sensed they knew this too, that they were perhaps in the middle of a bad film and had to overcome this fear by hard work and concentration. It's a chore. The script fails to present a credible romance and resorts to a string of gags and off-the-shelf gimics. The car scene was a straight rip- off from an old Fellini film. In another intimate encounter, Davis and Keaton have to do an improv skit about uncontrolled "snort" laughing. The ackwardness reminded me of the Meg Ryan diner scene in "When Harry Met Sally". Brian

FWIW - I was very disappointed in this movie. The dialogue was pretty boring and the ending was lame. Too bad, because I *did* think that Davis and Keaton has chemistry and the movie had potential. ** out of ***** Chris

For a much better Geena Davis movie, rent "Quick Change" with Bill Murray and Randy Quaid. The movie is hilarious and she is stunningly beautiful in it. NAZZ

Saw this one last night. Medoicre at best. Geena Davis and Renny Harlin (her husband) were co-exec-producers on this project so I'm truly disappointed that it wasn't better. I agree with .0 and .1 in that the script was beneath both actors. Predictable and contrived. MJ

For a schlocky romantic comedy, I thought it was pretty good. |
