| If I'm not mistaken, the movie stars Liam Neeson (sp?) and Meryl Streep
and will NOT be filmed in NH, but rather a small town in the Berkshires
in Massachusetts.

718.2 | how 'bout the Dead Zone? | REFDV1::MURPHY | Symbolic stack dump follows... | Wed Dec 07 1994 11:00 | 10 |
| and speaking of local filming locations... my wife and I were watching
"Dead Zone" the other night (christopher walken, martin sheen, brooke
Adams etc.) I had heard that, although it was set in the fictictious
town of Castle Rock, NH, it was actually filmed in NH also. We tried
to figure out what that town was and we're guessing along the lines of
Kingston or Exeter. Anyone know for sure??
thanks,
Steve

Hey, you know more than the local TV station (ie. Ch. 9)!
I reported what I heard on the noon news yesterday in .0.
The noon news today just reported what you did! Ie. that
Disney has changed their mind and will not be filming I
believe it was Sanbourton.
The reason given is that Streep wanted to be in closer commuting
distance to her home in Conn.!

718.4 | I'm interested in local movie locations | TOOK::MORRISON | Bob M. LKG1-3/A11 226-7570 | Mon Feb 13 1995 11:53 | 13 |
| Local (i.e. MA or NH) film locations fascinate me. Here are some examples:
On Golden Pond (1982): Squam Lake, NH
A Separate Peace (ca. 1970) Exeter, NH and vicinity
The Witches of Eastwick Ipswich, Lenox, Cohasset, etc. MA
The Verdict Boston (I never got around to seeing this one)
The Brinks Job Boston
Blown Away Boston
There also was one filmed in Keene, NH last summer; I forgot the title.
This one was a major disruption. Not only was most of Keene's business district
closed off to auto traffic for weeks, but they also closed part of it to FOOT
traffic for a while.

718.5 | a couple more local shoots | PSDVAX::HABER | Jeff Haber..SBS IM&T Consultant..223-5535 | Mon Feb 13 1995 12:34 | 8 |
| also local:
Housesitter (Steve Martin): Concord, MA with scenes in Acton, too
School Ties: I don't remember where the exteriors were shot, but some
interior work was done in Acton (with some local high school students
as extras I believe)

718.6 | Brookline and Newton, MA | MPGS::FARRELL | | Mon Feb 13 1995 14:39 | 6 |
| Also the last Karate Kid was shot in Brookline, MA and Newton, MA.
I was living in Newton and watched them spend an ENTIRE day setting up
to shoot for a few hours outside the Newton police station.
Haven't seen the movie, and may only to see what it looked like when
finished.

Part of "School Ties" was filmed in downtown Lowell, on
Gorham Street. It was sort of weird seeing how it looked in the
movie (as it must have looked back in the '50s) and how it really
looks.
Still, it really is sort of neat when you recognize a place you
are familiar with in a movie.
