689.0. "No Escape" by NETRIX::michaud (Stuart Wilson) Mon Nov 07 1994 10:12
This one stars Ray Liotta (from Goodfellas) as a prisoner in
the year 2022. A time when prison's are run by private industry.
Michael Lerner plays the warden of one such prison. This warden
also has a secret (unknown to the public or world governments)
island to which he sends his problem prisoners.
Liotta quickly becomes one such problem prisoner and is sent
to the island. He first meets up with the leader of a group
of prisoners called the Outsiders. Liotta doesn't like authority
in any form, so after he kills a few people and almost kills the
leader, he barely escapes after being injured and is taken in
by another smaller group of prisoners called the Insiders (lead
by Lance Henriksen, the actor who played the android in Alien(s)).
Well you get the idea. There are conflicts between insiders/outsiders,
spys between the camps and spys for the warden, and of course attempts
to escape.
I give it a marginal thumbs up. It's an action adventure film and
does live up to that billing. Don't look for it at the Oscars however.

TODAY is a time when (some) prisons are run by private industry.
