627.0. "8 Seconds" by 58633::TRP109::Chris (Mulva???) Fri Sep 02 1994 13:20

I was pleasantly surprised by this flick - rented it last night when there
was little else to choose from and really wasn't expecting anything. It's
the autobiographical story of Lane Frost who won the bull riding portion of
the rodeo circuit a few years ago. Luke Perry had the title role, Cynthia
Geary (from Northern Exposure) played his wife, and Steven Baldwin was the
best buddy. I was surprised by Luke - he seemed quite natural in this role
- I guess the fact that grew up in the mid-west helped - anyhow, I thought
he was much better in this role than as "Dylan" on BH90210. Good soundtrack
by Bill Conti (I think) and some good action scenes of the bull riding. It
was obvious that a lot of the work was done by stunt men, but there were
also a few scenes where you could tell Luke and Steven were riding - wonder
how much training they had to go through?

the ending really got to me - I must have been in a PMS mood last night, but
all I was bawling all through the closing credits when they were showing the
film and photos of the real Lane - what a tragedy.

I thought this movie wa o.k. but like the previous noter, I really
liked the music and pictures of the real Lane Frost at the end. It was
    a nice tribute. Sad though.

Luke Perry actually worked with Lane's widow to get into character
with Lane. He didn't want to make any mistakes.
I, too, cried at the end. But I shouldn't have, I already knew the
    story.
