	This one stars Gerard Depadaeu (sp?), and I'm sorry I don't
	remember the name of the young actress who plays his daughter
	in this film.  Laureen Hutton also has a small role, and there
	is a cameo (and uncredited I believe unless I missed it) by
	Emma Thompson.

	The basic story is Gerard plays a divorced frenchman who
	hasn't seen much of his 14 (almost 15) year old daughter for 5
	years because he's a busy businessman.  He takes his daughter
	on a 10 day trip to some tropical island for a holiday.  The
	daughter gets the hots for a island local and starts a chain
	of lies to entice him (the first lie she tells the local is
	that Gerard is not her father, but her lover).

	This movie can be described in one word, "lame".  And Gerard
	seems to be getting a bit of a pot belly these days!

	This is a remake of the original French movie, which was done 2 or 3 years ago. The title was the same, the story was the same, the leading role was the same (Gerard Depardieu), only the girl and the other actors were French and the plot was playing in French surrounding. Hollywood thought this would be a nice movie and so it was filmed again and adapted for the US market. The original was also rather lame and not a big success in Europe, so I never understood why there was done a remake. A.

	One Hot Summer (1992) That Night (1992) [Kathryn] King of the Hill (1993) [Christina Sebastian] My Father the Hero (1994) [Nicole] (aka Daddy Cool) [and I agree, the film was pretty lame.] Yes, the cameo was uncredited. I understand Emma Thompson owed Depardieu a favor, or they were close friends, or something. And as for the pot belly -- as Entertainment Weekly put it, he gained 40 pounds to play this role -- 5 years ago.

	Thank you all for a unanimous BOMB review. I shall make sure I avoid it even at the video store. Certainly happy I didn't waste $6.75 to see this one. This box review has proven to be a real money-saver. Kind of makes you leery of all those ads in the newspapers, etc. doesn't it?

	I watched this film on TV last night, and yes it was lame. However, overall I surprised myself by enjoying it, it even got quite moving at the end. The young daughter (Heigl) is a real stunner, does anyone know how old the actress was when she played the part? Oh, and both my wife and I were pleased to work out that it was Emma Thomson playing the cameo role BEFORE we saw her... Ian
