| The story is that North feels unappreciated by his parents and sets off
to find a better set.
>the blond guy (don't remember his name but he was also in Die Hard I
>and was a ballet dancer at one time) from Witness.
Alexander Gudonov, I believe.

| Any movie that has Bruce Willis dressing up in a big pinky bunny rabbit
suit, I'll pay money for.
Seriously, though, it seems like one of those quirky pseudo-fantasy
movies that appeals to me. Rob Reiner's a good enough director that
I'll give North the benefit of the doubt.

I have never been dissapointed by a Rob Reiner film. Stand By Me, The
Princess Bride, When Harry met Sally, Postcards from the Edge - all
excellent films. I am looking forward to "North" (execpt Jason
Alexander kinda gets on my nerves)

Not to mention "This is Spinal Tap" and "The Sure Thing".
Wait a minute. Was "The Sure Thing" a Rob Reiner film?

Mike Nichols directed _Postcards from the Edge_ not Rob Reiner. Though, Rob
was in the movie as a producer or something.
Movies Rob Reiner has directed:
North
Few Good Men
Misery
When Harry Met Sally...
The Princess Bride
Stand By Me
The Sure Thing
This is Spinal Tap

| Kelly Mc Gillis and Alexander Godunov played Amish People in the movie
"The Witness" (or was it "The only Witness") with Harrison Ford.
Has his movie something to do with it ?

critic gave it a 1&1/2 star out of 5. I was very surprised.

I wouldn't be surprised by that rating from a critic.
From all the previews I've seen this 'quirky tale' doesn't do much
except reinforce stereotypes.
How many people still believe that all rich people in Texas wear tacky
clothes and drive outragously huge cars with those horns in front?
How about the misconception at that Eskimos/Inuits/Inupiuts live in
igloos and open the floor to get dinner?
Or that people who live in France all wear berets, smoke and have
snotty attitudes?
all in all its about a kid who leaves his parents searching for
'better' ones....and in the process looks just as miserable (in the
previews) as with his own. Looks like a 'rotten kid glorified' movie
to me.
What a rotten "family" movie that fortifies labelling, and outdated
stereotyping, just what our next generation needs to see and hear.

It's a MOVIE, not a documentary.
It's not supposed to be 100% fact.

I've seen a clip which I liked where the eskimos pressed a
button, and the side of the igloo opens up like a garage...

| FWIW, Siskel & Ebert both gave this film a major thumbs down,
saying not only is it the worse film of the year, but probably
the worse film since they've (Siskel & Ebert) have been together
(17 years?).
The Mike Medved of "Sneak Previews" (PBS) also agreed with S&E,
but Jeff Lyons gave it a "yes" vote.

newspapers/mags and NORTH got way too many Turkeys in the reviews for
me to even think about spending any $$$ on it.
