This is yet another attempt to recreate some of the classic love-hate movies of the 30's and 40's, when there were combinations like William Powell and Myrna Loy, Clark Gable and Jean Harlow and of course Tracy and Hepburn. I Love Trouble gives us Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts, as newspaper writers on different papers, covering the same murder-mystery. As an entry in the genre, it fails mostly because of Julia Roberts limited range as an actress. While Nolte chews up the scenery, she just gets lost in the shuffle. As a murder-mystery it fails because it rehashes a plot that's been done with the same twists so that there's very little mystery or suspense. As an action-adventure vehicle, the stunts are hokey and not all that well done. Save your money and rent "It Happened One Night" or "Continental Divide"... Jim

I, too saw this one. I was not impressed - but I only paid $2.50 - so I don't feel cheated. Oh well! -s

I watched this movie over the weekend, and I found it pretty entertaining despite the fact that it's mostly hogwash. It's not the type of movie that takes itself seriously, instead, it's a lightweight, fun movie. I thought Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts both did excellent performances considering what they were given to work with. Yes, it was somewhat predictable, but I enjoyed watching them unravel the mystery, along with the action. I thought Julia Roberts was perfect in her role as Peterson. She really looks great in this flick as well. As a mindless, fun movie, I give it ***1/2 out of *****. Lv
