I saw "Saint of Fort Washington" this weekend. Not the most "up" movie I've seen but I thought Danny Glover and Matt Dillon did a really fine job of depicting two homeless men. it sure makes you think after hearing the line " see that man, he's only a paycheck or two away from being on the streets like us". Only because most of us live from paycheck to paycheck, right? Has anyone else seen this? Deb

I saw this movie at the Toronto Film Festival last September and thought it gave what was probably a very realistic look at what life for the homeless is like. Danny Glover and the director (can't remember the name) were attending and each gave a little talk before the movie - I remember Danny saying that most of the people you see at Fort Washington were not extras, but "real" people and that the main reason that he does movies like "Lethal Weapon" were so that he is able to do more social awareness type movies. I was very impressed by Matt Dillon's acting - one of the few movies he's done that proves he has talent (another I can think of is "Drugstore Cowboy"). Chris |
