541.0. "The Randy Quaid Digression <moved by mod>" by 7361::RUZICH (Realtime Software Engineering) Tue May 03 1994 13:34

    RE: Randy Quaid

Randy Quaid did an excellent job in The Last Detail, as a young Navy
private being brought to prison by a couple of MPs. The MPs, one of
whom was Jack Nicholson, decide that the kid deserves to have a good
time once before spending his life in military prison. A great flick.

I think that was him in the truck fooling around with Sybil Shepherd
(sp?) in The Last Picture Show.

Sorry for the digression, but I really like Randy Quaid whenever I see
his work. Yeah, he gets some unexciting roles, but the guy's a
    terrific actor.

He was good as the sheriff in "The Wraith", and he was very
strange as the neighbor in "Moving" with Richard Pryor. And
he was good in "Caddyshack II" as the lawyer.

Heck, he's good in everything he does.

I think the Dad in Parents was Randy Quaid.

I never worked out whether the child was screwy because his parents were normal
consumerist 50s Americans, or whether he was normal and his parents were really
like that. Though I suspect the latter....

His "Cousin Eddie" roles in National Lampoon's Vacation and Chritmas
Vacation are tremendously funny. The scene with him emptying the
chemical toilet down the storm drain almost had me falling off the
couch. This guy adds a lot to any movie he's in.
