535.0. "Cinema of Digression" by ASDG::GASSAWAY (Insert clever personal name here) Fri Apr 29 1994 11:44

Call it last minute but.....

The 88 Room is presenting another installment of "Cinema of Digression" this
Saturday, April 30. "Cinema of Digression" is basically a haphazard collection
of old Ask Dr. Science, public service, and corporate production employee
education films. You may remember these films from your science or social
studies classes, they're the ones that used to always get stuck in the
projector and aggravate the teacher (who didn't really understand the inner
workings of movie projectors). Authenticity is guaranteed, in fact, at the last
showing, two of the selections were "pink".

This weeks selections include:

	Cars and Mental Health
	Our Prayers Answered
	Are You Listening?
	Why 55?
Walk Safe Young America (starring JUNE LOCKHARDT!)

Show starts at 8:30pm, admission $5.

The 88 Room is located in the "Brighton Mall" at 107 Brighton Avenue in
Allston/Brighton. This is where the old Primal Plunge was located. For
those unfamiliar with this lovely area, the "mall" is basically a big
room with smaller rooms off of it, these smaller rooms have housed vintage
clothing stores, redical literature stores, various one room art galleries,
and odd religious gatherings over the years. The movie screenings are
done in the big central room.

The entire place has an ambience not unlike that of the Rathskellar in
Kenmore Square. Some folding chairs are provided, but if you want to
guarantee that you sit down, and not in something that sticks to your pants,
then bringing your own is recommended. Refreshments are also BYO, with
no restrictions (Blanchards is right down the street with very large selection
of beer). Some of the people may look icky, but for the most part they're
OK (out on the street in Brighton is another story, I would not walk here
alone if you're female).

These screenings occur about every two weeks (they break for a while in the
summer due to lack of A/C). I'll post the next line-up when I know it.
