Based on a true story, John Cusack plays Joey Coyle, an unemployed dockworker in South Phillie. One day he finds $1.2Million in $100 bills in two bags that accidently feel out of the back of an armored truck that had been travelling down a bumpy side road. The insurance Co. initially offers only a $10K reward and a police detective is put on the case. Joey tries to launder the money in a couple of ways, and eventually tries to leave the country with some of it along with an old girlfriend. Thumbs down. While not a bad movie, there just wasn't much to it to keep me interested for 100 minutes (there was only about 30 minutes of material to work with).

Moral of the story: if you find $1.2M in the middle of the road, take it home and don't tell anyone about it. I didn't like it too much, but at least he wasn't stupid enough to go out and buy a Ferrari the next day. Spoiler: Apparently the real John Coyle was found innocent by reason of temporary insanity. The movie ended when he was arrested. GTI |
