Spoiler alert - some plot disclosure

I saw this film because it got the best foreign film Oscar. It's
a summer cottage romantic comedy. The house where it takes place is
the best summer cottage I've seen in *any* summer cottage film. Aside from
that, the film is breezy, pretty, and mindless. It's Spanish with
some cultural twists that were new to me.

The central premise is that a young man befriends a family with four
daughters. He has sex with three of the daughters in turn (and in
a variety of interesting settings) before settling on the fourth to marry.
Hollywood would pass on a plot like this, because in America it isn't
PC for a man to sample women in this way. Unless he pays for it somehow.

FWIW - see the foreign film that didn't win - Farewell My Concubine.

I finally got around to renting the disc and seeing this film. This must be
one of the worst choices for a best foreign film Oscar in a long time. I
was very disappointed in it and didn't finish watching it (a rarity for me).
I felt it was bland, not very funny, and completly unconvincing. I can't
beleive that the Academy choose this film over much more deserving competition.
