454.0. "Twelve Angry Men" by 7361::MAIEWSKI () Fri Feb 04 1994 16:21

I saw Twelve Angry Men staring Henry Fonda on TV about 6 months ago. It is
the story of 12 men who were selected to be on a jury. The film starts with the
12 men entering the jury deliberation room after hearing the trial of a young
Hispanic man accused of murder and it tells the story of their deliberation.

Since the entire story takes place in the jury room with the exception of two
short scenes, I had the impression that it had been done as a play which I
later found to be true.

The movie was filmed when Fonda was a fairly young man, perhaps in his 30's.
It also stared Lee J. Cobb and a number of other familiar faces.

The story is a little dated since all 12 jurors were white male, but it was
done really well. The acting, writing and direction were all 1st rate.

Since it was on TV, it's probably available on tape. I strongly recommend it.

excellent movie. In my youthful ignorance I just happened to start
watching this movie on TV a couple of years ago, and was gripped. It is
an excellent film, and the acting is first class.

One of my favorites!! Bought a copy this past Chirstmas for a friend.
This first time I saw this movie was in a human relations class in high
    school.

Rented it at a Video Connection a few weeks ago for a mere $0.68 along
with Witness for the Prosecution and On The Waterfront. (Movie classic
    day at our house)

Actually, Fonda was born in 1905 and the movie is from 1957, which would
have made him in his early 50's.

Definitely a classic film. Too bad it got shut out at the Academy Awards by
Bridge on the River Kwai; there were no acting nominations, amazingly enough.

I dunno, Jon, "early 50's" still seems fairly young to me. :-)

  He didn't look 50, more like 35.
