| I was re-glazing some windows in my basement and sort of listening to
the broadcast and I somehow missed the added part about the original
soldiers at Ft. Sedgwick. Re-glazing windows can lead to a glazing of
the brain I guess.
Would someone be so kind as to give me the rundown on that part?
Thanks,
Marv
P.S.
DWW is a beautiful movies and I think the native american actors are
superb. Their facial expressions alone are worth the price of
admission.

| Sadly this is another topic that had been lost when the
original conference was lost :-(
The cut shown on ABC last night should of been close
to the Directors cut I believe. From what I remember
of the previous conference, this cut has already been
released on video in some other countries. It wasn't
released on video here (USA) I guess because they must
of had a deal with ABC. Hopefully it will be released
on video (probably just in time for the Holidays if that's
how they timed it).

Well watched part 2 last night.
What a great movie in the extended version.
There is so much added back it's just too much to list. It appears a lot
of it is dicussions, small talk between the characters. Entire scenes I
don't remember at all. Scenes that reinforced what the director was
trying to say in this film.
They really should make it available in the US now.

| Agreed, I really enjoyed the theater version, and I missed the TV
showing. I am really looking forward to seeing this new version when it
comes out.

| re:.1
Well, they didn't show very much of the original soldiers at the fort.
But what they *did* show was a group of rag-tag guys who were royally
pissed-off at Uncle Sam for more or less abandoning them. The lieutenant
in charge (who nobody obeyed much,I guess) was shown addressing the men
and leading them out on horseback shortly before Dunbar got there. It
was ironic that the main gripe was that the army didn't re-supply them
and Dunbar arrives with the re-supply. It was never made clear exactly
*where* they rode off to either.

| Just to put my 2 cents in.....I saw the movie version at the theatre
when it came out (I didn't think I could sit for 3 hours but I was
MESMERIZED by this movie) it was so excellent I cannot believe that
people compared Last of the Mohicans to this (I thought Mohicans
stunk..sorry) I also watched the TV version of Dances and I LOVED
it ...it showed more of the romance (which I enjoyed) and the
reason around the "holes" that were dug for some unexplained reason
in the theatre version.
All in all I just wanted to say I think this movie (winner of 7
academy awards) was in my estimation WORTHY of all 7.
This movie was so well done and I have to mention one more thing
...Anyone really notice the beautiful background music in this flick?
It is superb.

| re: the music
I purchased the sound track because I loved the music so much. I cant listen to
it without a tear coming to my eye. I wept thru the movie esp the ending. Not
that the scenes were sad, just the movie got to me. :-)
