356.0. "Married To It" by 12368::michaud (Jeff Michaud, Pathworks for NT) Mon Oct 18 1993 13:56

This is the story of three couples who meet and become
friends. One couple is two hippies (the husband went to
Woodstock) who now have two kids and are social workers.
Another couple are young who 1st met when they were 8.
The husband is a hot shot on wall st. and the wife is
a shrink at a private grammer school (btw, the setting is
NYC). The last couple has the husband being a doll
maker and has a daughter via his ex-wife. His new wife
is rich and the daughter and the new wife can't seem to
get along. Trouble starts when the stock broker is
arrested for stock parking, and all the relationships
	are tested.

I enjoyed the movie, though did find some of the serious
moments boring. Luckily the serious moments are only
a small part of the film.

	The all star cast includes:

	    Cybil Sheperd
	    Ron Silver
	    Beau Bridges
	    Mary Stuwart Masterson
	    Stockard Channel

This is out on video now and IMHO worth a rental. It reminds me a bit
of Short Cuts but definitely on the Lite (but not "light") side. Three
couples meet more or less by chance and end up having dinner at one
couple's place, and become friends. There are strong class distinctions
in the movie and the source of some, not a lot, of tension.

Happy, sappy ending in some sense "deserved" because the original
problems were a bit forced and distorted. Still, it's worth a rental if
you want a NYC romance or 3 with a happy ending.
