313.0. "QUESTION ON ACTORS FROM PATRIOT GAMES" by MPGS::RIORDAN () Wed Aug 25 1993 13:47

I am trying to find other movies/miniseries done by 3 Irish actors (I think
they are all Irish, if not Irish then English) that I saw recently in the movie
Patriot Games with Harrison Ford.

The actors I am trying to find information on are Sean Bean (I believe he
played the part of Sean Miller in the movie) Thora Birch (played Annette)
and Patrick Bergin (playing Kevin the leader of the Terrorist group).
They were all playing the parts of terrorist trying to abduct a royal in
the movie. (The movie I was watching is a VCR recorded version and it does
not list the credits so the spelling of the names of the actors may be off
a little.)

I can find some other works that Patrick Bergin and Thora Birch have done,
(Frankenstein (wonderful mini series starring Patrick Bergin) and Robin Hood
(featuring Patrick Bergin and I have to admit I like Patrick's Robin Hood
more than Kevin Cosners) and Enchanted April with Thora Birch (sp?).
(Enchanted April has received several awards and should have it is a
wonderful movie)) but would also like to find out if there are others that
I have missed. I do not know of anything done by Sean Bean other than the
movie I have seen (maybe he's new to the movies, I am not sure).

I would be interested in other movies/mini series/Theater that they have done.
If anyone out there could give me some help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mary

313.1ooops I got at least one name wrong...MPGS::RIORDANWed Aug 25 1993 13:569
I am not sure but I believe I got the name of the female actress that
played Annette incorrect. In my original note I thought she was played
by Thora Birch, but I believe she is played by Polly Walker. I am
still very interested in information on other works done by these
actors. My copy of Patriot Games does not have the credits on it so I
could not double check to make sure I got their names correct. The
characters I am interested in are Annette, Sean Miller and Kevin from
the terrorist group. I would still like to find out what others works
    these actors have done.

Sean Bean has been a bit part player in several movies (someone with a
reference book may be able to list them), for some time now.

Most recently he was in a made-for-tv Lady Chatterley's Lover (as the Lover)

Polly Walker was one of the principals in "Enchanted April".

Sean Bean was in a Carlton (London) mini-series adaption of The Women's
Room. As in Lady Chat, the main interest was his botty.

Sean Bean was also the star of British television's "Sharpe's Rifles"
and the sequel, both, if I remember correctly, were two-part series
(if you can call them that) about a group of riflemen during the
Napoleonic Wars in Spain. These have been shown on US TV on either
Bravo or one of the PBS channels 2 or 11 here in New England.

Sean Bean was also in the British production of "Clarissa", shown this
    past year on PBS.

    Re Sean Bean

I _think_ he's English rather than Irish. If not he does a great
    English accent. :^)

There are now a number of Sharpe's (3 sets of 3, I believe), based upon
the books by Richard (?) Cornwell and most of the characters are played by
the same actors. I'm suprised to hear that they were shown as 2 parters in
the US as the appeared as single 2 hours programs on British TV.

They were obviously made as films as they are wide screen format and
have the look of film (lighting, many location shots, well
photographed, etc) rather than those awful mini-series we see so
often. Still, I expect British TV ships the US a lot of our junk along
    with the quality stuff :^)

    That should be Bernard Cornwell.
