(cross posted in tv_chatter) Hopefully someone can help... I watched part 1 and the last half of part 2 of a movie called "I know my name is Steven" on channel 56 these past two nights. It was the story of a boy who was kidnapped when he was 7 and brought up by the kidnapper until he was 14. Anybody know if there is a book based on this true story?

According to my wife, ( an expert on human tragedies) this was a true story. I believe the fact that the movie was trailed by an epilogue, which described the main character's death at the age of 24, supports this.

Yes, it's definitely a true story. Apparently the real Stephen has a bit-part in the film (as a policeman, I think), although I don't know how this ties in with the epilogue which says he's dead (unless he died in between filming and release). A very moving film. I usually find "tragic true story" films a bit crass, but this was the exception. Scott
