    I thought the first one was good - But mostly for the novelty of seing
    the different things they did with the dead body. I doubt my attention
    span can handle another 90 minutes of dragging a dead body around in
    different costumes.....
254.2ewwwww...sounds stinky...16564::NEWELL_JODon't wind your toys too tightWed Jul 14 1993 13:234
    Do they actually bring the real Bernie back for this
    movie or use a dummy?

254.3in very poor tasteVAXWRK::STHILAIREa period of transitionWed Jul 14 1993 14:385
    I have to say that I thought the previews for this movie were among the
    most tasteless I have ever seen. It disgusted me.

    re .4, dragging a dead body all over the place, expecting people to
    find humor in the way it gets its head banged around, etc. Propping
    the same dead body up and making it dance and walk, etc. To me, that's
    not funny, it's just bad taste. I couldn't help thinking, "gee, I
    wouldn't find it funny to have the body of a person I had loved treated
    that way." Know what I mean?

    Well I saw it as.....1) a body is a shell, the person's spirit and
    being is gone 2) In the first one they set it up that Bernie is a real
    A-hole and is very nasty...so the premise is kind of the boys take
    it out on Bernies body....

    But I see your point Lorna

    I really squirm when people tell me what I should find funny.

    The movie makes no pretense about its topic. Iffa choo don like it,
    don go see it...  ;-)
254.8VAXWRK::STHILAIREa period of transitionWed Jul 21 1993 14:5511
    re .7, I didn't go see it, but I wound-up sitting through the previews
    3 times when going to see other movies.

    Also, I am not telling you what to find funny. I don't give a darn
    what you find funny. I don't even know who you are. I simply stated
    that I found the topic of the film to be in bad taste, and I think I
    have just as much right to express that opinion as you do to laugh at
    whatever you want.  Okay?

254.10we have these big brains, right? :-)VAXWRK::STHILAIREa period of transitionThu Jul 22 1993 10:499
    re .9, I don't think it's that odd that humans are the only species
    that worries about death. Afterall, we *may* be the only species that
    actually realizes that eventually we all die.

    There's a lot of other things we do that animals don't do either, like
    read, write, drive cars, do mathematics, etc. :-)

    Gee, I don't know what everybody's griping about. The problem with the
    "Bernie" movies isn't that it's making fun of - or with - dead people;
    it's that it teaches children a totally unrealistic attitude about dead
    things. Why, if they were to try any of those movie antics with a real
    dead body, there'd be bits and pieces and bodily fluids all _over_ the
    place. Boy, if there's anything that burns me up it's the way the
    entertainment industry just has to sanitize everything, setting kids up
    for a major shock the first time they realize what "decomposition"
    means. There ought to be a law...

    Uh, wait a minute. I think I lost control there for a bit. But I'm
    all right now.

    While I would agree with Lorna that this topic does not appeal to me as
    an entertainment, I thought Blake Edwards used it to good effect in
    "S.O.B.", which I found to be hilarious.

	Well I have to disagree with .0 (I believe the only review
	before the rat-hole!). I enjoyed the 1st film, but this
	sequel was clearly an attempt to make a quick buck off the
	fans of the 1st one. Nothing made sense, nothing was funny,
	and nobody cared. This was worse than "Cool World"!!!!!
