| Ok I give up.
Is .0 suppose to be some sort of cryptogram?
It makes no sense to me, what are you saying?

| It's an article about who sponsors Michael Medved's show Sneak
Previews. It took some trouble, but they found out that K.O. is one of
them, along with a couple of other obscure 'family oriented'-type
foundations. According to the article they are sponsoring the show,
despite the fact that it is a real money loser, so that Medved can have
a source of income while planning a run for Congress.
Medved is well known for his book last year that criticized the movie
industry for not making enough 'family' movies, even though they have
shown to be money makers.
Jeffrey Lyons, his review partner in Sneak Previews, comes off quite
badly, since apparently he is not allowed to disagree much with Medved,
or even get off any 'bon mots' that might distract from Medved's
brilliance. In fact they included an example in which Lyons manages a
clever rejoinder, and Medved immediately stops the take and repeats the
sequence, with Lyons remaining silent. Lyons is characterized as
'spineless', but mindful of the $3500 he gets per show for the abuse.

| This is no surprise. Let's face it, Medved and others like him hate
everything about freedom of speech. They can't stand artistic freedom, they
can't stand being contradicted, they have no room for anything other than their
own narrow point of view.
Lyons could really put the screws to Medved by quitting and writing a book at
just the time Medved announces his run for Congress (or what ever). It would
be good fun to see him exposed for the tyrant he appears to be.

| I'm a little skeptical about the charge that Ken Olsen supports this group.
More likely, Ken belongs to some sort of group that gives money to a number of
conservative causes and Medved's program has received some money from one
of those sources. Anyone wanting to fan the flames would probably over simplify
and say K.O. supports the show.
I'd have to see a little more proof before I believed that he would go out
of his way to sponsor something like that.

| George,
I wouldn't say the article makes the "charge" that KO supports
Medved's show. That makes it sound like there's something criminal
about it. Maybe he just likes Michael Medved. Until I read this article
I had nothing against the guy. His idea about family programming never
bothered me much, I thought he had a legitimate point. But SPY makes
everybody look like an egotistical jerk, so it's hard to tell if he
really is, or if it's just the usual SPY trashing.
The article does say Ken Olsen was the sponsor initially responsible
for putting Sneak Previews back on the air after it failed in 1990. See
the article for details.
The gist is that rich Christians such as Olsen are funding Medved
because they approve of his pro-family agenda, and that they wish to do
so quietly. The article then goes into further detail about "why so
shy?", which I suggest you read, about the resulting questions of
conflict of interest concerning which movies Medved reviews and what he
says about them.
The last line in the article is cute:
Ah, Michael. See you in "Mr. Medved Goes to Washington".

| re .8, well, I've worked for Digital for 17 1/2 yrs., but I wasn't sure
in these *post* Ken Olsen days whether K.O. still stood for Ken Olsen.
