You think he's young there, see him, also with Harvey Keitel, in "Mean
Streets".

Albert Brooks.

He was the fare in the back of the cab watching his wife at the window
of their apartment.
He also has a cameo in his "After Hours" as the owner of the punk club.

| Taxi Driver is one of the greatest movies of all time. One of the very few
that I'd give all 5 stars. Robert DeNiro gives the 2nd best performance of his
career after Raging Bull. Jody Foster and the rest of the cast are great as
well.
An all time classic

| This is a definite Feel Bad movie. The first time I saw it, I walked
around in a bludgeoned daze for the next 24 hours. The structure is
that of a Jerry Lewis comedy (shlub in demeaning job falls in love and
gets to become hero); the slapstick joke during that horrendous
bloodbath scene was what did the biggest number on my head.
Even more horrendously, what we see was actually toned-down; the
ratings board objected to the original scene for its graphic violence
(!).
Do try to see it in a theater; as with "Mean Streets", there is some
very beautiful camerawork that doesn't make as much sense on a TV
screen.

I saw an interview with the director, Martin Scorcese(sp?) and he spoke
about what they did to "tone down" the violence.
After the ratings board complained, they fixed it so the whole scene was
seen through a red filter. I don't remember if they reshot it or just
overlayed it somehow. Anyway he laughed about it because in his opinion,
it made the violence seem worse...but the ratings board accepted it. I
didn't really notice the reddish coloring of the scene until I watched it
again after I saw the interview.

| My Jury is still out on this one.
Rented it on the weekend and was, as someone else said in here,
quite shocked and "dazed" as to how to take this flick. The acting was
great. Some freaky characters. And I guess pretty violent for the
standards of "those" days. I was told by my friend, it would have had
more of an affect on me if we watched it in a theater...maybe one day?
4 outta 5
