186.0. "Leon the Pig Farmer" by 42712::DUTTONS (DUTTONS) Thu May 13 1993 06:22

    A romantic, likeable fable full of daft Jewish jokes - although, as one
    review said, "not as funny as it thinks it is".

    Made, incidentally, on a budget of 160,000; those involved apparently
    agreed not to charge for their services until the film goes into profit
    - which gives you some idea of the state of the British film industry.

    <minor spoiler follows>

    Leon (North London Jewish boy) finds out he was born as a result of
    artificial insemnation - turns out the doctor mixed up the test tubes
    and his real dad is a Yorkshire pig farmer. Adventures, culture clash
    and love interests ensue.

    My only dislike was for Leon's boring fiance.
