162.1 | Good, not great, is about right | TNPUBS::NAZZARO | Boston Shootout - June 18,19,20! | Tue May 04 1993 12:17 | 10 |
| The young woman was Kimberly Williams, the beautiful bride in
"Father of the Bride" last year. She did steal the movie, as
her character was strong and surprisingly wise for her years.
This was a "nice" movie, with several funny scenes and a few
unsettling ones. A good movie to see as a matinee on a rainy day.

| I haven't seen this, but the New York Times a few weeks ago printed a
chart comparing this movie with "The Return of the Secaucus Seven",
"The Big Chill", and "Peter's Friends". The comparison chart had some
rather amusing categories, but it did make the point that John Sayles,
who directed "The Return of the Secaucus Seven", seems to have created
on an ongoing mini-genre.

162.4 | Thumbs UP! | 32198::KRUEGER | | Wed May 05 1993 15:41 | 22 |
| Saw this last night, in an almost deserted theater ... those who were
there seemed to love it as much as I did. We all laughed at the same
time and there were PLENTY of laughs and warmth to this movie. Once
again, Elizabeth Perkins is untouchable; she plays her part so
convincingly that she's almost transparent. Although I recognized
Julie Warner from the disastrous "Mr. Saturday Night" and the MUCH
better "Doc Hollywood" and of course we ALL know Alan Arkin, the other
actors didn't seem too familiar, but they were ALL great. Warner was
excellent, as was the young girl who played "Jamie's" fiance ... she
almost stole the movie and would have if Perkins hadn't been in it.
This is a great, feel-good movie and very reminiscent of the Big Chill
as far as relationships go.
Oh, Diane Ladd was also excellent in this movie, and without a doubt a
very beautiful young woman played down to look plain and wholesome.
See this!

162.5 | Comic turned actor - Kevin Pollack | 18583::SHAW | | Wed May 05 1993 16:21 | 11 |
| Kevin Pollak is also in this film - I haven't seen it yet, so
I'm not sure who he plays - but he's a goofy looking guy with
curly hair, who is also in "A Few Good Men" and "Avalon".
He used to do a GREAT Star Trek spoof where all the characters
are suddenly turned into other famous people - Scotty turns
into "Arthur", Bones turns into Columbo, etc. Only Kirk
stays the same. Hysterical. I can't wait to see this film
just to see him.

162.6 | thumbs up here! | 3258::WIGHTMAN | professional security guy | Mon May 09 1994 00:07 | 8 |
| I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, it ran the range of emotions while
pulling you along with the characters. Sam Raimi was great as the
groundskeeper, you never would have guessed he was capable of such
classic work as Darkman and the Evil Deads. I've really liked Kevin
Pollock (sp?) since seeing a cable concert he did years ago, definitely
a plus in the movie.
Enthusiastic thumbs up from this softy kinda guy.

162.7 | kind of blah | VAXWRK::STHILAIRE | don't look back | Mon May 09 1994 13:21 | 6 |
| I rented this movie awhile ago, and it really bored me. I stopped
watching it about half way through. I kept thinking, "This has been
done before, and better."

162.8 | | OOTOOL::CHELSEA | Mostly harmless. | Thu May 12 1994 17:36 | 3 |
| This is a good rental movie: nice, with engaging performers, doesn't
suffer from being on the small screen. Nothing great, but nothing
really bad either.

162.9 | Nothing like Algonquin Park in the summertime | 58378::P_CHAPLINSKY | | Mon Jul 11 1994 09:11 | 8 |
| We rented this over the weekend - it was o.k. but not THAT great.
My husband enjoyed it more as he went to camp and the little pranks
they did to each other brought back some memories.
It did make you want to pack up your things and go camping for a
couple of weeks.

| I saw this last night. I was kind of a BIG CHILL meets LITTLE
DARLINGS. It was OK, but I like BIG CHILL much better for a "many
years later" type show.
