78.0. "Street Knight" by 8269::BARRIANO (choke me in the shallow water...) Tue Mar 16 1993 21:03
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just saw Street Knight with Jeff Speakman....Who?????????
Spoiler Warning...In case you can't wait till it gets to the dollar cinema
at the end of the month.
Jeff Speakman plays an excop/auto mechanic, no other stars, except Bernie
Casey who plays the old buddy/sacrificial victim that gives the hero a
reason to wreck his venegance.
Plot: stop me if it sounds familiar :-)
Movie opens with wacko holding eight year old girl hostage, cop is convinced
to drop his gun, waco kills girl anyway.
Fast forward three years...Cop is now auto mechanic/neighborhood hero...Evil
underworld vilian/bad cop is trying to break the truce between the black and
latino gangs, they kill blacks and blame the latino's and kill latinos and blame
the blacks. Young latino (good student running with gangs for protection)
is a witness to the villian/bad cop's killing of black gang members, of course
he has a sexy older sister who goes to the local auto mechanic for help (and yes
they hop into bed, before he starts looking for the brother...hey even hero's
have their priorities) Lots of Kenpo Karate punches (with a few kicks thrown in
for good measure), some full auto weapons. Hero finds brother..meanwhile, bad
guys find/kidnap sister...hero rescue's sister, kills bad guy with help of
brother who returns with both black and latino gang bangers who join forces
to fight the bad cop and his evil mercenaries.
Dedication at the end of the movie
Dedicated to American Kenpo Karate and Gang Truces...
Regards
Barry

Maybe, but far from the perfect actor :-)
Actually the martial arts scenes were pretty well done. A lot more hand and arm
moves in Kenpo Karate (reminded me of the "sticking hands" style of Wing Chun
Kung Fu), not as flashy as the spinning kick/Tae Kwon Do style so popular in
martial arts movies, but probably more effective in real life.
