| I found this one wildly uneven. Loved the "Red Knight" sequences, the
initial premise, and the performances of the two women (especially the
one who played Bridges' girlfriend). I wasn't that fond of the
denouement; myth or no myth, it seemed painfully contrived to me. I'd
call it interesting and bizarre, but not involving...

| I saw it on tape a couple years ago and I really liked it. I agree that
it was a bit uneven so I wouldn't call it a great movie, but it had some
really good performances and is worth seeing on video.

| Sometimes I really go for that moral/analogy/comment on the state of
mankind sort of film, and this film happenes to be one of my favorites.
Almost as much as the Natural, but the agreeably weak resolution knocks
it down a notch. Still, great performance by Williams, nobody did
selfish jerk better than Bridges and Mecedes Ruhl probably deserved her
Oscar (she DID win, didn't she?). If I only looked so good in tacky
outfits......

| I liked this movie a lot, too. My favorite scene was the one where
Robin Williams asks the woman he has a crush on out on a date, after
walking her home. I love the dialog between them in that scene. I
liked the way Jeff Bridges character evolved from a shelfish jerk to a
caring person.

| The film as a whole didn't win anything I'm aware of, but Mercedes
Ruehl won Best Supporting Actress in both the Academy Awards and Golden
Globes, and Robin Williams won Best Actor (Musical/Comedy) in the
Golden Globes. Lots of nominations in both: Comedy picture, director,
Comedy Actor (Jeff Bridges) in the GG's, Actor (Robin Williams),
Original Screenplay, Art Direction, Music Score in the Academy Awards.
