57.1 | Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave | 58378::S_BURRIDGE | | Thu Mar 04 1993 08:20 | 5 |
| Sounds like "Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave", which starred
Ottawa performer Sneezy Waters. Waters revived the show last year and
I saw it here at the National Arts Centre. It is rather moving.

That sounds like it! It was very interesting and as you say moving.
My brother and I are big fans of Hank Williams music and have been doing
a bit of "what was the name of the film?" for the last couple of years.
Neither one of us were close to the correct title. I appreciate the
reply as I now have the upper-hand in future discussions.
What do you mean Waters revived the show?
Where is the National Arts Centre?
Has Sneezy Waters done any other work?
Thankyou,
Dennis

| The movie was based on a stage show that Waters toured with years ago
and revived last year. He's older now, so it's a little harder to see
him as a 29-year-old Williams, but still did a very good job. An
interesting tyhing about the live performance was that many of the
audience were real country music fans, of whom there are many in the
Ottawa valley. The reactions of the crowd as "Hank" got more and more
drunk and pathetic on stage were unsettling -- many laughed, as at a
comic drunk act.
Waters occasionally performs around Ottawa. I don't know his work very
well, but I think he's a singer/songwriter who performs with a band.
The National Arts Centre is in Ottawa.

57.5 | Canadian Film Board? | 29572::THOMPSON_A | | Tue May 11 1993 16:52 | 4 |
| I believe this film is available from the Canadian Film Board. I've
been intending to call them myself and order it. The guy sounds
remarkably like Hank, and even looks like him to a degree. I too saw it
back in '82 on Showtime and again last year on PBS.

Opps, the correct name is the National Film Board of Canada (the
"NFB").
I'll bet that they jump at the chance to sell something. I've never
seen *any* of their videos in a Canadian Video store. They usually
show up in libraries only.
