| Available on video in the U.S. I really liked this movie; they paid
attention to details (though, of course, the technical loopholes are
big enough to swallow the Queen Mary). I mean, they have this mock-up
Cray-I in a computer room, and don't even refer to it, so it becomes
an inside joke. And the "plucky blind guy figures out the answer" is
played straight. Well, except for the van. Akroyd's "Conspiracy"
material is laid out then the plot moves on. They don't insult the
viewer by pointing out the jokes.
If you liked "Mission Impossible" on TV you'll like "Sneakers".

| I didn't like this movie. It was okay, but I thought it was on the
boring side. Also, I didn't appreciate Aykroyd's remark about the
first man on the moon being a lie/conspiracy; now my daughter is
convinced that there's no way a man could have landed on the moon!

Then you shouldn't let your kid see any movies or watch
any television. Else next thing you'll know is your daughter
will think humans can fly (Superman, Wonder Woman, ...), that
humans can take physical tramas and live (Home Alone I & II,
Road Runner [cartoon], .....). Ie. why are you nit picking
that particular remark? It's not even the first movie to suggest
the moon landing conspiracy, there was a whole movie about it!
I do have to agree with you about the movie overall however. It
started out good for the 1st half, but the second half was run
of the mill, almost a take off of "War Games" in some ways
(with the compatible graphics systems of all the computers ....).
7 out of 10 stars.

| I saw this movie over the weekend, and have to agree that it was so-so.
A couple of plot "twists" were run-of-the-mill, and the bit about the geese
has been done before ( a movie with Cary Grant; I forget the name).
I guess I was dissapointed in it because it was built up so much, and when
I finally did see it, it just didn't "wow" me.
Allthough, I must admit "Mother's" alternative views were amusing as backround
chatter.

The film's already been done. ;^) Although it was about a faked landing on
Mars. Called "Capricorn One", I believe, and starring Kirk Douglas.

| No, Capricorn One did not star Kirk Douglas.
Astronauts - James Brolin, Sam Waterston, OJ Simpson
Reporter - Elliot Gould
Corrupt NASA official - Hal Holbrook
Wives - ? 1 is currently on "In the Heat of the Night" playing
a local councilperson involved with Sheriff Gillespie, Brenda
Vaccarro (sp?) and I can't remember the 3rd.

| Back to "Sneakers". I saw it over the weekend and really enjoyed it.
I like Redford and these kinds of movies. And I thought the rest of
the cast was great. Sure, it strained credibility to the breaking
point (and at times, beyond) but so what?? It wasn't a deep film but
it was very entertaining.

We watched the movie over the weekend too. I thought
it was pretty good.
Dan Ackroyd has put on quite a bit of weight. My husband
didn't even recognize him. Regarding his conspiracy questions,
I think he asked them mostly to annoy the others. When you
think about spending a great deal of time together, you need
some form of relief.
Also, I don't try to analyze a movie too much if what happens
is believable or not, it is suppose to be entertainment -

| I have noticed that Dan Aykroyd seems to play his comic film roles in a
fairly subdued or straight manner; often his characters are offbeat or
eccentric, but usually also quite earnest. His role in "My Girl" is
another example of this.
This is in contrast to the kind of comedy he delivered on Saturday
Night Live. His best roles on that show were caricatures. He did
genuinely funny impressions, such as of Tom Snider, Rod Serling, Jimmy
Carter, and even Julia Child--as well as caricatures such as the
Bassomatic pitchman. Now that Tom Snider is back on television, every
time I watch him I picture Dan Aykroyd doing the Tom Snider laugh.
Perhaps because that kind of caricature comedy doesn't translate well
on the big screen, his comic roles in the movies have been much more
subdued, or at least it seems so to me.
