31.0. "A Winter's Tale" by 42712::DUTTONS () Thu Feb 11 1993 08:01
The latest Eric Rohmer to get the subtitle treatment, following on from "A Tale
of Spring" (which wasn't much chop).
This one is slightly different from earlier ER: there's the usual quota of
good-looking characters, but the setting isn't so relentlessly pretty.
In flashback:
On holiday two young French things fall in love, but on their return to Paris
she gives him - by accident? - the wrong address, and forgets to take *his*
address in America ...
Five years later:
... so they lost touch, but life has gone on and lo and behold she has a five
year old child: his daughter. At first she's with some other (dull, earnest)
chap - unsatisfied, remembering - and then she goes to live in Nevers with her
hairdresser boss (fat, black shirt) which is a a terrible mistake because Nevers
is boring and their apartment is dire - so back she goes to maman Paris and
then, would you believe... it's like Shakespeare all over again.
Nice one Eric.
