    I'm not looking for a light (coors,miller lite,etc) but a light
colored,semi-sweet full bodied golden ale.I've had some at the
local drink tank which was very good.I've put together some
ingredients last nite and brewed (batch #3).This is whta <hiccup!>
i've put together and is sitting in the primary.Would the experienced
want to suggest what the end product might be like?
    6 lbs of plain dme
    1 lb crystal malt
2 oz kent goldings for bittering
    2 oz williamete for flavor
    2 tsp gypsum
    1 tblsp irish moss
    og was around 1.037

                                           Thanks, Delaware Joe

I think this will be amber, not golden.....plain light syrup (which
kind?) will usually give you an amber by default. Adding crystal malt
ensures that it will be amber. For a golden colored beer, I've found
that only Alexanders Pale Malt extract keeps the color light. I add a
couple lbs of munton& fison light (or extra light if available) DME,
but skip the crystal malt (I'll sometimes mash with pilsner malt/cara
pils, ubt that doesn't add much color). Carastan malt can be used as a
substitute for crystal if you want to keep the color down.

You're abolsutely correct. It's not as dark of amber as the India Pale
Ale I have in another secondary. It's a light to medium amber color
that somehow thru the miracle of chemistry i was hoping would change to
a lighter perhaps gold color. Thanks for the "secret" to the pot-o-gold!
