SunOS 5.5.1
SQL/Services Client API 6.1
Customer is trying to link the example program that comes with the Client API
for SunOS on his Sun system and is receiving the following error:
when it links with the libsqs.a library, the following error is received:
unknown type unable to process using elf(3E) library
The 6.1 API documentation states that it will run with SunOS 4.1.3 systems.
Since this customer is running 5.5.1, I am assuming all bets are off...
I checked V7 of SQL/Services and found the following:
o The SunOS client API is deprecated for Oracle SQL/Services V7.0 and is
frozen at the Oracle SQL/Services v6.1 level.
but I also found this:
o Support for Solaris client API for the Solaris operating system.
Since SunOS 5.5.1 is equivalent to Sun Solaris 2.5.1, does that mean V7
of SQL/Services might fix this customer's issue?

| Hi Renee,
The Solaris client that shipped with SQL/Services V7.0 was only tested on
Solaris 2.4. We don't know if it'll work with Solaris 2.5.1 or not.
