2198.0. "Sql Services 7.1" by chsr38.ch.oracle.com::RROHR (Cajun? Zeydeco? Both!) Fri May 09 1997 06:08

    I just installed Sql Service 7.1.

    The documentation states that the sample database and the dispatcher
    and service are created during installation (section 3.11 guide to
    SQl*net for Rdb).

    In my case neither was created.

    The OCI_SAMPLE_DB.COM still mentions T7.1-02.

    Also,the installation has not started Sql Services 7.1.

    I got this kit from the DECNET location. Is this the right kit?

    Thanks,
    Regina

2198.1Can you install again with a log and options kSQLSRV::MAVRISSue Mavris - [email protected]Mon May 12 1997 12:5212
Hi Regina,

I'm not sure where Ray put the kit... where did you copy it from?

We left the T7.1-02 in OCI_SAMPLE_DB.COM by accident. I'm assuming you have
the right kit... and that something must have gone wrong during the
installation. Can you "set host 0/log=xxx" and install again with "options k"
and send me the install log?

Thanks.

    Sue,

    I just deleted SQL Services 6.1, mv7.0 and mv 7.1 from my system. I
    reinstalled and it went fine this time, means: all it says it does was
    really done. (I only startup one version at a time)

    It probably got confused with MV 7.0 around?

    Thanks,
    Regina
2198.3maybe a network port conflict?SQLSRV::MAVRISSue Mavris - [email protected]Wed May 21 1997 10:465
Oh - if you had all those other versions there, it's possible that you were
trying to use the same network ports for the 7.1 and 7.0 server. The second
server to be started would most likely fail to come up in this case.
