Hi,

I have a customer that wants to use ACMS 4.1 which is the latest
version of ACMS released by Digital.  They want to know what
version of CDD will work with ACMS 4.1.  Currently they have CDD 6.1.

History:

On a VAX they have ACMS 3.3B, CDD 6.1, Rdb 6.0 ECO4 and works ok.

On an Alpha they are trying to get all the software info they can to make sure
everything works with ACMS 4.1.  They've installed acms 4.1 vanilla- no
servers, no applications.  Also have CDD 6.1, Rdb 6.0 S, Rdb 6.1 MV.  No Rdb
patches.  Getting CDD errors that indicate acms problems.  Don't want to
install Rdb patches, don't want us to work on the CDD errors.  Only want us to
tell them what version of CDD do they need to use with ACMS 4.1. They called
ACMS support and DEC told them CDD 5.3-6.0 should work and to call us.  
Nothing about 6.1.

I cannot find any reference to ACMS in the CDD 6.1 installation guide
or any references in STARS.  Did ACMS 4.1 even exist at the time CDD 6.1
was released?  And should lower versions of CDD work?  

How do we coordinate with Digital to make sure that our products are still 
compatible with theirs as they release new versions?

Hi Diane,

to work with ACMS 4.1 on Alpha and CDD 6.1, you need to be at a minimum version
of CDD/Repository 6.1-01 to fix an alignment problem. If you call CDO$INTERPRET
from an ACMS task, you need to be in CDD/Repository 6.1-02. I will not
recommend earlier version of CDD/Repository ( no commitment for version
released in 1993 ) . CDD/Repository 6.1 ECO 3 exists and work with ACMS 4.1 . 
For what it worth, CDD/R 6.1-03 also work with the current Field test version 
of ACMS 4.2 FT3. I suppose CDD/Repository V7.0 also work with ACMS 4.1. 

Therefore, I believe Oracle should say CDD/Repository 6.1-03 or later is 
needed to work with ACMS 4.1.

CDD/Repository 6.1 has been released in April 95 . ACMS 4.1 has been released 
in october/decembre 1995.

PS: I don't know why the customer does not want to cooperate on the CDD errors
he encountered. I assume it was an ACCVIO. Thus, if the customer is not at 
ECO 1 , the error he encountered is important.
