755.0. "GSE clarification?" by M5::BLITTIN () Tue Jun 03 1997 10:30

    RDB 6.1-04
    GSE 2.1A
    XPERT 3.0

Customer is getting the "FOUND 'ASYNC" at or near line...". I'm
having a hard time finding anything that clearly states whether
GSE can be used with RDB6.1

Found some info on removing the offending lines, which we did, but
it seems to continue to propagate others. Also a note that says
something about not recognizing some SQL from 6.1 with GSE.

Is this a supported product? Does note 731 say that the customer
shouldn't be using GSE with 6.1, just the schema editor in 3.0?

    Thank You,

    Bob

Is there any time frame for OEM (Expert/Trace) to support RDB?

The last version of GSE released was before Rdb 6.1, so
it would not support any new syntax.

There are no plans for future updates to GSE. There will be
a replacement product, but there is nothing that has been officially
	announced yet.

Is the problem that you are seeing in Expert or GSE with
the expecting... found ... at or near line...?

There are more recent releases of Expert (we are currently at 3.2)
that will get around some of the newer syntax without the error.

In the release notes with Expert 3.0 and forward it explains the steps
you need to go through to use GSE. Expert provides the text editor in
version 3.0 and forward instead of GSE.

	Good luck,
	Sheri

    Thank you Sheri...

Customer is just trying to use the GSE (2.1a) and has run into
    the restrictions.
