738.0. "Expert with Oracle7" by BROKE::BASTINE () Mon Mar 31 1997 20:38

I have a customer using Oracle Expert with an Oracle7 database. The
customer fires it up and gets the gui, however, he gets a connection
box asking him to connect to a repository... but he didn't create one yet.

I know the create repository option is off the FILE menu bar, but we can't
get there. If we cancel the repository connect screen, expert gui closes.
If we type in any name/pass, expert gui closes... we can't get to the FILE
menu to create a repository!! Any clues?

He also wants to know if you can run off more than 1 repository... ??? Can
you?

Thanks,
Renee

Hi Renee,

In 1.2.2 there is a file called xpocr.sql which resides in the
/orant/sysman/admin directory. Your customer needs to connect
to a database via a user account and run this file. This creates
the repository.

When you get the login box, enter the user and password where the
repository was created and you should be all set.

Yes, you can create multiple repositories. They can exist under
different user accounts on the same database or on different
databases.

In 1.3.5, which is due to be released with 7.3.3 of the server,
Expert will automatically detect that a repository needs to be
created and prompt you to create it.
