I upgraded from Win95 using MS-ACCESS 2.0 and accessing a database at Prod07.das.dec.com using DECodbc to Win95 using MS-ACCESS 7.0 trying to access the same database using Oracle odbc (driver named ORACLE73). Am unable to understand and/or respond to questions being asked by the 32-bit ODBC administrator. Help is unintelligible. I used to be able to configure the DECodbc but this is quite different. The ORACLE73 driver was loaded by CNS so I would believe that it would be the right one to use just can't configure it. CNS says they only install the driver but do not configure it. Does someone have the ORACLE73 driver and could you tell me how to respond to the questions? It's Oracle73 (Oracle7 ODBC 32bit driver). The DECodbc was configured as follows for the questions that it asked: data source name: Athena description: CCOA, currency, segments server: Prod07.das.dec.com class: generic usedid: Knowles attach statement: ATTACH 'FILENAME ATH_DATABASE' The new ORACLE73 driver questions are as follows: data source name: description: SQL *Net Connect String: there is also a translation field when you click on options. There is also a button for "System DSN" whatever that is Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Mike Knowles (223-8197) POWDML::KNOWLES

1326.1 | You have the wrong driver installed for an Rdb database | BROKE::BASTINE | Tue Apr 08 1997 15:30 | 36
Are you trying to get to an Rdb database or an Oracle7 database? > The DECodbc was configured as follows for the questions that it asked: > > data source name: Athena > description: CCOA, currency, segments > server: Prod07.das.dec.com > class: generic > usedid: Knowles > attach statement: ATTACH 'FILENAME ATH_DATABASE' The above driver is the driver to attach to an Rdb database. The below driver is used to get to an Oracle 7 database. It looks like, if you are using an Rdb database, that you have the wrong driver installed. To get the latest "DECodbc driver", which is now called the Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb, pull it off the web at: http://www.oracle.com/products/servers/rdb/html/odbc.html Make sure you pull and read the README.TXT file for installation instructions. When you get this driver installed, it will look familiar to what you saw before. > The new ORACLE73 driver questions are as follows: > > data source name: > description: > SQL *Net Connect String: Renee Bastine Oracle Worldwide Customer Support
