1319.0. "Pathworks32 V7.0 & Winsock 2 SDK & ODBC" by ukvms3.uk.oracle.com::LWILES (Louise Wiles, UK Rdb support) Thu Mar 27 1997 08:55
Hi,
ODBC V2.00.20
Windows95
Pathworks32 V7.0
After upgrading from Pathworks V1.0a to Pathworks32 V7.0, ODBC is no
longer making a connection through to the server.
It fails with a network error of 2003, suberror -2045.
The client log has 2 lines, stopping just short of the line showing
which transport it's using.
This was all fine until the upgrade of Pathworks.
Looking at the Pathworks32 V7.0 release notes, it mentions that Winsock
2 isn't supported on Windows 95 until the Winsock 2 SDK is released by
Microsoft. The bit out of the release notes is below.
Is this going to affect ODBC?
Thanks,
Louise.
The PATHWORKS 32 V7.0 product release includes all the parts
of DECnet WinSock 2. However, this functionality is not
supported on Windows 95 systems until Microsoft officially
ships the WinSock 2 SDK for Windows 95. It is expected that
Microsoft will release its WinSock 2 SDK after PATHWORKS 32
ships.
Until the WinSock 2 SDK is available from Microsoft, the
following PATHWORKS 32 components will not work, over DECnet,
on Windows 95:
> eXcursion
> CTERM (which affects VT320 and PowerTerm 525, over CTERM)
.
.
.
Again: eXcursion, and CTERM for the terminal emulators, will
work over DECnet on Windows 95 once Microsoft releases its
WinSock 2 SDK and you install it on your Windows 95 systems.

1319.1 | Not supported - we don't have the product to test with | SQLSRV::MAVRIS | Sue Mavris - [email protected] | Fri Apr 04 1997 14:45 | 9 |
| The ODBC Driver on Windows 95 supports Pathworks V1.0a only. We've never
tested with more recent versions of Pathworks... but new versions of
Pathworks have been known to break us in the past so I wouldn't be
surprised if we didn't work with this one.
We don't yet have Pathworks 32 v7.0 here. There's nothing we can do about
supporting Pathworks V7.0 until we get it.

| Thanks Sue - this is what I was looking for.
BTW Pathworks V7.0 is the version that's supposed to work with NT V4.0.

| The customer tried this with TCP/IP instead of DECnet & it works ok.
