899.0. "Good Bird Toys" by POBOX::SEIBERTR () Mon May 15 1995 16:46

    Hi folks!

    I saw an ad in Bird Talk magazine for "Carol's Bird Toys".
    I got a brouchere and ordered the 6-piece Discus for Sheila,
    my Muluccan. I just received it and you would not believe how
    great it is!! It is absolutely HUGE and colorful. It cost
    $18.00 plus $4.00 for shipping and they thru in a "small" toy
    worth $12.00 for me to try out. Both toys are really good. They
    have colorful shapes of wood and beads, and leathery things. The
    chain its on is very heavy. I have not found anything like this
    in any of the pet stores I go to, and I usually have to pay about
    $15.00 to $25.00 for a toy that is nowhere near this kind of quality.
    Its worth checking out if you so desire.

   You should see the displays Carol's has a most all the larger Bird shows
down here (Southern Florida) We routinely see the same toys in the Pet shops
for 2 to 3 times the show prices.

    The other vendors sell the pieces except for the colorful rawhide sandwich
toys. Building your own toys is fun too and a lot less expensive than buying
from a pet shop...

899.2shows too???!POBOX::SEIBERTRTue May 16 1995 10:0510
    I didn't realize she did shows. I wonder if she does anything up
    here in Illinois. I'll have to try to make it to a show...I've been
    dying to get to one, but something always seems to come up on those
    weekends. I believe that these toys would go for 2/3 times what
    she charges! I bet my toy would be at least $50.00 if I bought
    it in a pet store. Sheila is still working on the "little" toy
    they through in. Its nice working with people directly too, because
    you get that personal service.

    Sadly I've been told that Carol of Carol's Bird Toys recently passed away.
Whereas it was a small operation, I suspect (but do not know for sure) that the
business will not continue.

    Carol was a character. She was as colorful as the bird toys she made and
sold. She will be missed..
