My wife and I have found a local breeder that may be worth checking out before you purchase your next bird. She has Cockatoos, Congo Greys, Amazons, Sun Conures and other small parrots. The latest clutch includes the most lovable Orange Wing Amazons. They are about 8-9 weeks old and will be ready to go in 3-4 weeks. One has been reserved and there are three left. The birds have been raised in a family environment. She advertises that her birds are 'sweet and lovable - no biters'. When we visited her, the first thing we noticed was the warm and loving environment that the birds are raised in. Deanna is a very caring breeder. Then we noticed that there were no biters! (not just the babies but the older birds also). Then came the part about the prices. I do not believe you will get a better price anywhere! If you do happen to find a lower price some where, she will probably beat it. You have nothing to loose by giving her a visit to see what beautiful birds she has. If you are like me, once in the door, you will want to leave with ALL of them. I know where my next bird is coming from... The person to contact is Deanna Calandrillo at (508) 562-6496 (Hudson, MA.) Good luck and happy shopping... (Christmas is just around the corner)

Well... I did get my next bird - one of the Orange Wing Amazons from Deanna. I visited Deanna almost every day until the bird was on only one formula feeding a day, then I took him home and did the remainder of the feeding myself. I picked him up ~2 weeks ago and he was weened within a week. The whole family is happy that we decided on this bird. Deanna only has one Orange Wing Amazon left, (the person that bought one had 'financial difficulty' or something like that at the last minute and was unable to pick it up. She also has one African Grey that my wife has gotten quite attached to and a few Sun Conures that just hatched, (I think last week). I don't think she will have anything else until after Christmas. If your in the market for a Grey, check with her, the price may surprise you! Alan |
