Let's talk air cleaners. With Winter coming and the birds spending
more time in their room I am thinking of getting a good air cleaner.
Presently, I have a Bionaire 300 which is old, the ionizer is broken
and just not doing the job as well as I would like.
Seems the new things with air cleaners are ions and ozone. Bird Talk
advertises some of them. Does any one out there have one of these new
fangled air cleaners? How do they "really" work? What kind of price
range are we looking at?
I have 7 birds in an 11 x 12 foot room and it does get dusty. Clean as I
may, the stuff just floats around in the air. There's got be a better
way!
Thanks,
Jeanne

I had the same problem...with four exotic birds in my studio, the air
was at times stuffy...No matter how clean you keep the cages, birds
do have a smell of their own!!
I ended up at Sam's club and got myself an "Enviracare" air cleaner.
What a job and all for 144.00, cheaper than most and high on the list
for top air cleaners. Definitely recommended, although, keep in a
room adjacent to the room the bird is in....the air cleaner can be
somewhat noisy and bothersome to the bird. Also, it blows air which
could cause a draft.

| 830.2 | Get one with an ionizer for the full effect... | SPARKL::COMPTON | Mon Nov 22 1993 15:51 | 7 | |
I got a Bionaire air cleaner with an ionizer built in. It is the one
that cleans a 20' x 30' space three times an hour. I don't remember
the model number, but it costs about $110 at discount stores. It has
made a **major** difference in the breeder room for our cockatiels. I
leave the ionizer on at night on low as a 'white noise' factor, which
has virtually eliminated night thrashing as well. Wish I could afford
some kind of machine like this for every room in the house! /Linda C.
